Korn - The Nothing (September 13, 2019) • Page 3

  1. See You On The Other Side and Untitled (their Nine Inch Nails era?) are both better than Take A Look In The Mirror so I don't agree so far. I still have the following albums to listen to though.

Someone else recently told me See you on the other side was their best album. I've yet to listen to it though (other than Coming Undone)

  3. Five songs into Korn III and boy do I hate this. Take A Look In The Mirror, but make the "back to the roots" approach even more forced and clumsy. The amount of recycled riffs, melodies, and grooves... Why was this made? The industrial direction of its predecessors was much more interesting.

I've listened to all but the last track of SYOTOS now and yes, it is a great album! I mean, there's a bit in the middle that I didn't care for as much, but the opening few tracks and the second half was really good...yes, NIN vibin' ;)

More Korn today! Everything from a little bit of FTL to Issues to Untouchables and Take a look in the Mirror. I think I like Untouchables more than TALITM...but Issues is still my favorite. I really gotta try the old stuff again. And SYOTOS-might be a better album, but it's a different album, so I wouldn't really compare it to others but put it equal with say Issues...maybe. I dunno if I like it THAT much tho. I also still need to listen to (what are the others? Untitled and Korn 3?) the rest of the middle albums, but I don't have high hopes for them based on what ive heard about them...

    It's on! ;)

  6. What the hell, The Path Of Totality is unexpectedly good? They sound rejuvenated, and even though the fusion of genres works better with some producers than others, it's one of their most interesting albums. They deserve way more credit for having the guts to release this instead of the blinded hate it got at the time. It has some of their best hooks ever, and the dubstep elements really adds to the heaviness of it all.

This isn't a knock against Jonathan by any means but I really like that he did something a bit different with his vocals on this track and I wish he did it more often.

  15. On a big Korn kick right now. Snagged Self-Titled, Follow the Leader, and Untouchables on vinyl this week. Just need Issues, Life is Peachy, and then maybe this record. (Still need to listen to everything from that in-between period).

Ah man, hope you enjoy the discog. I say it every so often, but they really were innovators, and I don't think they get the credit they deserve since nu-metal basically became a meme.

I just remember when Freak On a Leash and Got the Life were #1 on TRL for long stretches of time. Follow The Leader was truly a masterpiece when it came out.

It was the first time something other than a pop song was #1. It's weird, but having music I actually listened to be #1 on TRL was such a big deal. And I was like, 10 at the time haha. Kids won't ever know how important TRL was.
