A few thoughts - the album is incredibly strong and a huge step up from Copacetic - Double Helix reminds me of vintage Hidden In Plain View - the second half of this album is very good and contains most of Shapeshifter's best songs - such as Want Me Around and the incredible closer Plastic Brains but my favorite is Conduit
That is absolutely fantastic to hear. Do you feel like they capitalized more fully on the things that made them interesting on the first album (the 3/4 chorus in Swing, extended outro of True Concrete and Untitled, the blast beat in Pretense, etc.)? Also, what kind of vibe are they going for on this one? EDIT: Only if you're able to talk about it!
Their closers have always been some of their best songs. Woodwork, No Good, Bedford Falls, Untitled...
"Double Helix" coming soon. iTunes has the runtime up and the band has been tweeting lyrics recently.
Life is Dreaming sounds a bit dated but man this is good stuff! I listened before but now I'm really paying attention
No clue. They released that 3 song EP in 2015 but other than that I haven't heard anything about them.
I really like the new song, but am I alone in feeling that this song being released on its own as a single just feels like Copacetic Pt. 2? maybe it's just been too long since I've listened to that album, but that's my first impression. that said, I'm still fucking stoked for this album! love me some Knuckle Puck.
Not alone at all. Both of these singles just aren't cutting it for me. I feel like I've already heard both of them before. The chorus of Double Helix is almost identical in sonic structure to Disdain with a different vocal melody over it. Hoping the rest of the record surprises me.
