i feel like he likes this kind of music more than the mainstream stuff he tends to shit on for no reason
It's probably a net positive for the band, I just don't like his voice or the way he talks about music
Yeah he likes frenetic 'core stuff. He's been very positive about bands like Converge and Dillinger and pre-last album Code Orange. He's pretty dreadful for hard rock/metal. Still laughing at him giving the last Hum album a 5 and the last Deftones album a 3.
The older I get, the more mature I become, the more I really listen and empathise with the views of others, the more convinced I become that I am right about all things.
listening to a tear in the fabric of life today, forced to stay is the highlight here and definitely points to the stuff they’d do on this record
It’s official: my favorite part of the record is in Calm right before the breakdown at the end, where they start the groove a measure early by maintaining the triplets, just incredibley ingenious
I can't take Ronald McDonald's opinion on hardcore seriously ever since he said that Daoboys don't do anything to set themselves apart from their peers.
did you like the factory? I keep tabs on their line up and look for a show to come home from because it looks just wonderful
I listened to this and then Tear back-to-back, and Tear does seem to offer a little more in the metal riffing vein, but I miss Isaac's vocals on that one, it's weird they just decided to scale him back so much on that release. It could also just be the clearer production style of Putney that makes it easier to pick things out. Where that one upped the metal inspired riffing, this one just amps up the total dissonance to overwhelm you.
i don't think this will ultimately top a tear in the fabric of life (which is pretty much flawless in my eyes) but sit & mourn is definitely their best song
This tops Tear, for me. It’s everything that I love about what they do, only more raw and raucous and crushing.
Tear's subject matter is just a little too heavy and dark for me to want to listen to all the time, so this one wins for me.
