I’ve been listening to this record on repeat all day and the only two nitpicks I have is that Slaughterhouse 2 is underwhelming and that this feels a little too short. Otherwise, this is a metal masterpiece.
Nah Slaughterhouse rules and people will come around to it that drilling section towards the middle is ridiculous
too short is always a thousand times better than the alternative which is the norm now where albums outstay their welcome for a solid 15-20 minutes. Would I have taken another 3 songs here? Absolutely. Would I much rather start an album over right after it finishes than tap out before it’s over because it’s too long? You bet.
I sort of view the upon loss singles as a “prequel” or prologue to this album and sit & mourn feels like a reprisal of everything is quiet now for the epilogue….brilliant stuff
The riffs on these songs have a certain similar feel to them, in an almost thematic sort of way. It gives a solid identity to the record and to me it means they still have a lot to explore moving forward.
My biggest gripe with the album is that it’s about 4-6 minutes too short. Especially with them saying that Suffocate was added after the album was done.
I was thinking earlier than Suffocate would transition nicely into Deep Into The Willow/Everything is Quiet now.
It’s miraculous how hard suffocate hits in the context of the album. My god man. That snare sounds like I’m getting hit with a thousand dodgeballs
Love ETID to death probably my third favorite band of all time have one trillion bangers. But if we’re talking front to back no skips immaculately sequenced elevated album experience it’s this and Errorzone for me
Errorzone and Splinters From An Ever-Changing Face are definitely records to pair with this if 27 minutes isn’t long enough, but I’m of the mind that a shorter album is better. I’d rather run it back and sink in than feel exhausted
idk if it’s really metalcore but callous daoboys celebrity therapist was my 2022 album of the year by a lot. Also the two acacia strain albums last year almost topped my list and both came in at number 2. very likely this album takes it for me this year
I was thinking of another album that starts the way this one does and while this isn't exactly it, there's never a bad occasion to bring this legendary band up
I also thought of The Chariot regarding the album's length, since it just about hits (imo) the golden ratio set over their discography: 10 songs in 30 minutes.
END is the closest thing to this band going now imo, and if you love Calm then Errorzone is the best analog. KN if you see this please do a Vein, KN, END tour lmao
I’m so fucking excited to hear some of these songs live. They’re going to win over a lot of fans at the Slipknot shows
