a tear started their uptick but 2023 was their biggest year yet and all they had was those two singles. definite change in the attention they get.
Probably a mix of the singles, the MIW feature, and tours they've been on. Either way, way different playing field than when ADSOB was released.
Song fucks. I think the extra sludge in the guitars people are referring to is due to their use of the Swollen Pickle fuzz and they may also be using octave pedals similar to the band END.
I think the raw, chaotic, muddiness is fitting after the maximized, well produced Putney sound. I love Putney’s style, but over multiple albums it starts to get a little stale. EDIT: didn’t realize Drew Fulk did the Upon Loss singles as well as at least this song if not the whole album. Looking at his credits, this is definitely outside his normal wheelhouse. Pretty interesting. I think the Upon Loss singles sound great.
This song is ridiculous in the best way. Love that I can't decipher anything the guitarists play because of that classic 90s metalcore sounding snare overpowering everything. The transition with the guys screaming one after the other is priceless as well.
