I don't really like how Metacritic calculates. It sounds like they take reviews and then review the reviews to get their "weighted" score, which makes it sound completely arbitrary.
i'm the opposite, i guess. metacritic comparatively seems to average out just how much critics liked a film/album/game/etc., where RT tracks how many critics liked a movie at least just enough, which speaks less to how good or bad they thought it was
Metacritic also seems a little more discerning with their critics. RT takes in pretty much anyone with a website or YouTube.
I trust MC more than RT for my personal tastes, however I imagine this will be a foundation setting trilogy opener. Hoping it's better than Rise, which I really enjoyed but clearly dealt with growing pains
Yeah my sister in law’s friend has a film blog/instagram with basically no followers and can upload her reviews to RT
I just use Letterboxd and check out how the people I choose to follow are reacting. I never bother with RT or metacritic anymore
I get it, although I don't really care about specific critics in general so to me the RT aggregate works better because it encompasses a wider range of watchers. If 70% of everyone from Mr. Suit to Joe Off The Street thinks a film is good, putting aside whatever specific criticisms they might have, that works for me. I get why people might prefer the other way though.
Letterboxd was near unusable for me the past couple of years because it was just bunch of critics thinking they’re open mic-ers, giving something three stars and writing “my balls itch.” I think we’re mostly over that now. Still, Metacritic is fine for me.
So like is this good?! Haven’t read any of the reviews and I’m very close to buying a ticket but I also golfed last weekend. I might feel bad having another boys night if it’s not good lol. Trying to convince my wife we can get a babysitter so she can come too but it might be a hassle
