I’m pretty sure the reason Nintendo hired homeboy to direct Zelda was they were impressed with this. So that gives me confidence
I've now binged 8/9 of the movies. I've somehow still never seen War so that's on the agenda for tomorrow. Have my ticket for Wednesday for the early screening in IMAX. Can't wait.
Some of those early ones are an absolute slog. I've always found the og and the last 3 to be the only ones worth watching. In the back hour of Dawn now. An absolute science fiction masterpiece.
I actually really dig most of the originals. Conquest is a personal favorite of mine, the original is obviously great and I love Escape for just how different it is. Beneath and Battle are the weakest in my book and the Burton one just shouldn't exist. Rise & Dawn are both fantastic.
Burton’s film is definitely flawed, but it holds a special place in my teenaged heart regardless. My mom loved the Apes series when she was younger and had just shown me the originals when the Burton one came out. We went to see it together and left with a lot of questions, but it was cool to experience with her nevertheless. That was also my very first DVD and I sat and watched and rewatched all of the special features because, I still maintain to this day, that film had some of Rick Baker’s best makeup/prosthetic work of his entire career. I was so enthralled just watching his process.
War I think is my favorite of the 2010's trilogy. Bad Ape is the comedic relief this franchise kind of needed. Love Steve Zahn.
I feel like Bad Ape is how you do comedic relief the right way. Funny, but sympathetic and doesn't feel forced at all. Love his character.
The so-so reviews make me think I’ll skip this one. Gonna take more to make that three-hour commitment.
87% aggregate on Rotten Tomatoes doesn't feel like a "so-so" response, but I guess that could change as more reviews come in.
