Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (Wes Ball, May 10, 2024) Movie

Love the trilogy. Dawn is still one of the most top-tier sci-fi movies.

I hope this keeps the tone/vibe, and justifies its existence. Excited.

Don't think I saw any of the Maze Runner movies, but assume they were bad. Not sure this is going to be able to hold a candle to Dawn and War.

 

Never finished the Maze Runner series, but I remember the first couple being entertaining. The first one also came out almost a decade ago though, so I'm not sure how they hold up. Either way, there's no way this measures up to the previous trilogy.

 

Did they even finish the maze runner movies? Or was that another YA series they never finished?

 

I know production got delayed on the third Maze Runner because Dylan O'Brien got injured pretty badly, but it was intended as the final film in the series as far as I know. Maybe you're thinking of the Divergent series? Pretty sure there was a cancelled sequel with that one.

I definitely have lower expectations for this without Matt Reeves, but I actually really enjoy the Maze Runner movies for the most part. So I’m cautiously optimistic that I’ll enjoy this one

An incredible trilogy.

 

Hoping it’s a Craig Mazin with Chernobyl situation with this because a bad continuation will be sooo disappointing

Some questionable CGI in some parts, but I love this franchise so much that I am willing to look past that.

We'll see... I liked that the last 2 had a consistent tone and the directing in Dawn was top notch. The tank scene is so good and one of my most memorable action scenes. I will be optimistic that this will be good.

I didn't like the comic relief character so much in 3 though but the rest was still good.

Absolutely loved the trilogy (Dawn being legit incredible) so will watch this no matter what.

 

I'd be happy if this is like, 2nd worst out of the 4. I just want it to fall into the realm of the other 3 and be strong, doesn't need to be the best. Needs to sit nicely with them, and not feel like it doesn't belong/is shit.
