I sit right as close to the middle as I can get.

I like to sit to the right or left of the booth if available so that side can’t have someone next to me

The best at my local Cinemark is roughly a third of the way back from the screen. The furthest up you can be before the aisle & wheelchair row, right at the railing so you can put your feet up on it. The screen is close enough to feel big, without being uncomfortable. Preferrably towards the middle, but if people already have seats, gotta leave space (unless it's a packed showing, which I haven't been in recently).

If I'm willing to drive a half hour instead of under ten minutes and hit up the nicer Cinemark with more space and reclining seats, then I don't really care. Theoretically shoot towards middle-ish, but whatev.

(Anyways, finally gonna see this tomorrow.)

Can’t believe you’re trying to dox me. I better not be watching Killers of the Flower Moon today (at a theater that may or may not be in either Monaca or Robinson) and see a big ol’ purple blob walk in.

lol Robinson is my go to theater, my buddy just moved in with his gf in Monaca so I was at that one recently too but it is shitty compared to Robinson

I don’t mind it, outside of having worse seating and not getting as many films as Robinson (looks like Priscilla might not reach Monaca). The railing row helps a lot. And, with how many dang trailers they show, I can get in my car after the “show time” and still get there before the movie truly starts.

My one friend is anti-Monaca, but I’m pretty sure it’s just ‘cause he likes reclining his seat and spending half the movie getting a nap in.

  8. Saw this again yesterday and some psychopath sat right next to me in a theater containing 4 people. I immediately got up and moved. It's happened before and when I asked why they would do such a thing, they stated it was their assigned seat... Some people are such squares.

why would you pick a seat next to someone? that's insane.

This sure was good. I was muttering curses after some moments by the end because of the evil on screen. What a year for long movies that effectively communicate the weight of some vile ass historical shit.

  11. The picking your seat convo comes up like once a month on this website and those against have never put forth a convincing argument as to why it's bad

    Things have changed.

Picking your seat at the movies when buying tickets online was revolutionary.

The potential for a misunderstanding is near 0%. Also if you arrive late you've got to have your phone out like some kind of asshole.

I can't stand arriving to a movie late, wasn't a problem until I made some new friends in the area and they are... a lot less on time than me.

I prefer the ability to pick seats for a few different reasons, but I can see why some would prefer the days before that was a thing.

Either way, for a showing that has assigned seats, intentionally ignoring that is clearly asshole behavior, lol (depending on various factors). I ain’t gonna be a cop about it, but I’m gonna be annoyed when I gotta asked if you’re in my seat, just on basic “respect other people around you” terms.

I was a few minutes late to the new Indiana Jones but that was okay because I had to watch less of a bad movie.

I got held up and got into this movie something like 20 min late yesterday, and still had a couple trailers to sit through. An inability to get in before the movie starts seems like a you problem, lol.

  23. I have nothing against assigned seats, for the record. I just think some people adhere to the assignment too strictly at times when they shouldn't. Sitting in your exact seat during a crowded showing is expected, but when it's mostly empty, at least leave a courtesy seat if you end up right next to a stranger.

The AMCs I frequent are both in malls, so if I'm running a little behind I more likely have to ask someone to move their Foot Locker or Sephora bag from my seat
