I really enjoy the originals he did, and the covers are cool.. just not something I feel any desire to return to. Not really a fan of any of the people he did splits with so I honestly didn't get much out of it either.
I thought the split series, and especially the idea of it, was dope. From the side of everyone who wasn't Kevin, I love that Cymbals song, the Tigers Jaw and Jesse Lacey covers were really cool to me since I wasn't familiar with the songs they covered but I enjoy the bands they covered as well as them, and the Owen song was cool as well. From Kevin, I loved his Cure and REM covers, and Giessen is a great track. Magic Magnet might be the song by him on the split series I was most lukewarm on and haven't gone back to. Ultimately, it was a grab bag, sure, but I like that it probably expanded everyone involved's audience to a certain extent. So for me at least it seems it was mostly a success. But I don't listen to it as often because I don't own it, except for the REM covers 7". His version of Lovesong alone was worth the split series imo
If this comes out on the 28th, October will be the only month all year where an album I'm interested comes out every week in it.
I'm not too annoyed by the whole "be notified" thing but I wish Zack wouldn't say stuff like this without an exact date coming probably until next week lol. It makes the most sense to have it come out by late October though since the tour starts in November.
They keep raising the max price of Instigator on the P!MT store; it was $16 at first, then $17 yesterday, and now $20 today. I'm hoping that means there's a special package option, along with whatever limited pressing they'll do.
This song has some intense lyrics, I'm so excited for this. From what we've heard from the album so far (live stuff, these lyrics, as well as "Magic Magnet" likely being on there as well) it seems like we're getting something more along the lines of Bubblegum.
October is going to be another huge month, but September is primed to have my host some of my favorites releases of the year. Stacked with quality releases every week.
he definitely said he was planning to have it on the LP around the time it was released. idk if it will actually make it though
I'm hoping it does. He called the Split version "1.0" at one point, so I'm hoping/assuming whatever he did to "update" it made it even better.
As someone who's found it difficult/hasn't taken the time to get into Kevin's music, but has recently enjoyed Put Your Ghost to Rest, which album(s) should I tackle next?
