First time seeing Kevin live tonight finally on his Canadian Tour. Such a great guy. Took some requests and shared some stories about song origins like he was talking amongst friends. Looking forward to hearing more Devinyl songs and what’s coming next.
The new song is lovely. Up on all streaming services. Unplanned Service Changes - Digital Only Devinyl Splits: Unplanned Service Changes
Gotta admit this dude is my biggest influence when it comes to moving forward as a solo artist and just touring anyway
I’m so glad he’s still doing this and got in a release. Between whatever happened with the Petal split to get pushed back in the series and now dealing with the loss of Scott Huchison from Frightened Rabbit , because it sounds like they were going to do a split and Scott stepped in. It hasn’t been easy. Kevin’s songs so far have a humid warm climate vibe. Kinda chill, but nice. I like the new one more than Kuala Lampur
Excited to see Kevin with Manchester tomorrow, also looks like they are playing 42 from the bad books record.
Saw him last night open for Manchester Orhestra and it was a great set. I've seen him so many times and he's grown so much. The first time I saw him he opened for Starylight Run's first show in NY. Make the Clocks Move had just been released. So wild. I booked him years ago at my college and he was the nicest guy. So glad to see he is still doing it and doing it well. The set list was a great variety and his banter was great. I was alive back then Instigator Little Bulldozer Bubblegum (Enter Sandman/Free Bird/Stairway to Heaven tease) Another Bag of Bones (right after saying, "I'll play the national anthem if you all kneel") Cotton Crush You wouldn't have to ask (Bad Books cover) Private First Class All Apologies (Nirvana cover) Brothers Blood
Kuala Lumpur may be one of his best tracks, and not just because I’m partial to south east Asia in general.
The first Devinyl tracks from Series 2 sound like they could have been on the same album. I hope the next song is either a little faster or slower and acoustic. Mostly because I think these tracks are a chance to show off his variety of writing styles. Otherwise he could release an album or EP in the style of Kuala Lumpur. Or, maybe that’s what will happen with his Bad Books songs. Still fun to get these every month.
I had no clue this version of Nevermind even existed. Supposedly only 5 Lathe Cuts were ever cut? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/263711678885
Something brought me back to that video I took of him performing “Brother’s Blood” at the Ryman in Nashville. I still get chills every single time I watch this video.
Ballgame, but yes, Brother’s Blood is right there. I would say the album Brother’s Blood is his best and showing off his variety of styles. It’s Only Your Life is special too. So many good songs.
Listening to Brothers Blood the past two years has reminded me how relevant it still is too. Another Bag of Bones hits home every time
I was saying Brother's Blood is my favorite album of his. As for favorite song, that's gonna take a minute...
Doing it a disservice to call it pop punk Redbird, Fiscal Cliff, Nobel Prize, Somewhere Unoccupied etc are all much more than this
