@Aaron Mook You should ask him if he was intentionally trying to make this record feel more like a follow up to Bubblegum than Bulldozer bc it feels that way
I've got a question like that in there, as well questions from other users about his old political songs vs his new ones and how personal his writing is
Fair enough! Ha, I felt that one would be a big fan favorite. Huge brothers blood vibes on there. That one and guard yr gates
guard your gates was not what I was expecting. loved the outro though and it really stook with me. I enjoyed the second to last track but felt that it may be a little too idk familiar or something with the chorus melody, a borrowed melody of sorts I would say. I enjoyed the whole album loved the fuzz. Love the rerecorded stuff from the splits thought they came out really well on the record
I actually like the quieter tracks here - "Freddie Gray Blues" and "I Was Alive Back Then" are both really incredible songs imo
Man, this album is incredible. Kevin Devine consistently puts out top notch music. The guitar tones on this album are soooo good
"I Was Alive Back Then" is probably already a top 5 KD song. Sounded so good live and it's even better on the album
Really enjoying this record. Loving "No One Says You Have To" too. I would still love another full record in the style of PYGTR at some point, but I know that's probably wishful thinking. Those songs are just so solid and that record means so much to me.
This is instantly my favorite Kevin Devine record. I've never been able to get into his music wholeheartedly, but have enjoyed bits and pieces. This though, this is so solid.
First impression of this is positive. Very catchy songs, and I like the general aesthetic he went for on this one. Lyrically, it all seems up to par for Kevin which is definitely satisfying. I want to spend some more time with it, unfortunately I won't be able to for a few days because of work but I'm excited to come back to it when I get the opportunity.
I gotta disagree, I feel like Bulldozer is closer to Make the Clocks Move or Split The Country in that it's more of a blend. More Make the Clocks though for sure. It's solo but it's more uh. Muscular? Than PYGTR. In my opinion, of course! excited to listen to this stream
I like Magic Magnet a lot more this time around like w o w alright, cool this album is sick as hell so far (three songs in) thank you KDev
