I genuinely love Circle Gets the Square, haha, it reminds me of when my friends and I would record acoustic songs in someone's basement. That may not sound like a compliment, but it's very comforting and nostalgic sounding. Good for nighttime listening.
Okay, here's my ranking because I need to kill time until I get home and download this brand new album: 1. Instigator 2. Bubblegum 3. Brother's Blood 4. Between the Concrete and Clouds 5. Bulldozer 6. Split the Country, Split the Streets 7. Make the Clocks Move 8. Circle Gets the Square 9. Put Your Ghost to Rest I know it's uncommon to put PYGTR that low but it still hasn't clicked with me for some reason
realized after i posted that im always like "wtf" when people rank kevin's stuff but then i try to rerank in my head and i cant. i effectively am dissatisfied with every kevin ranking i've ever seen but yours is the worst because circle isn't last and thereby undersells another one of his excellent records
i completely agree, it is fine, and i noted it as my least favorite because i don't think it's bad, but every other album is great to excellent yknow that's a steep divide however......would be VERY interested in a rerecording bc those songs were sick on the live record
Yeah a ranking seems impossible to me considering all of his albums (bar Circle, i dont really know it) contain some of his very best songs. Even though generally I prefer the latter half of his career, I cant bring myself to put an album with Ballgame or No Time Flat in 7th or 8th position, that doesn't seem right.
Great song on first listen. I'll say I'm not that excited for another KD album since I feel like he's put out so many over the years already and they are always just 'very good' to me without really leaving a mark.
