Sometimes I remember Ameer's attempted comeback where he was rapping "I'm not just a boy in a band...I am more than a man" and it gives me a good chuckle
Ngl, between the Ameer stuff and Kevin selling a hoodie based on his DUI arrest, I'm pretty over this guy
Personally I think the Ameer verses here are absolutely good enough to warrant blowing up the band /s
Looking back on BH is so weird, I don't know if I've ever been so into something while it was happening and soured on it so much after the fact. I don't even know why. Kevin is annoying, but I still like some of those records, and the guys are talented. Just kinda cringe when I think back on it.
I feel like Brockhampton was greater than the sum of its parts. Odd Future was pretty mediocre when they were actually together, but Frank, Tyler and Earl all thrived outside of the band. Brockhampton is the opposite case- love them together but they’re all kind of mid apart (although I like the early Kevin albums)
Matt is the only one working for me as a solo artist at all yeah, though I continue to hope for a bearface album
I was playing some BH for my partner recently and she summed it up pretty well: "rap music for theater kids."
I agree with this, and I was really inclined not to at first but I'm kind of shocked at how well he pulled the 70s songwriter thing off
Is Kevin actually on this album? I listened to the first few tracks but 90% of the vocals are from features. His solo career has been such a disappointment. Can’t see myself checking out future projects from him
I always thought Dom was the best in BH but he just hasn't put out anything focused and complete really so that's my most disappointed. Agree with the better together than apart comments in here.
Matt put out a really solid debut album and has been getting placements on a bunch of festivals, he's definitely doing well for himself and only growing Dom is trying going the fully independent route and as far as I know is back to living in Connecticut. He's putting out solid work but it's not making much noise, but that might be by his own design. Hard to tell what he's going for currently Joba's album was very ambitious and I could tell he put a lot of effort into it but it really came and went unfortunately. I think he even canceled the tour that he announced for it which makes me feel really bad for him. I hope he can get something going, he's way too talented to fall into obscurity Merlyn is trying but I honestly don't think he was ever going to be a good solo artist. I'll reserve judgement until he puts out a full body of work though Bearface seems to have vanished Kevin doesn't know what the hell he wants to be as a solo artist and it is incredibly frustrating
