I thought this would be good but I had no idea it would be THIS good. If an album has ever deserved to be described as triumphant, this is the one. She's really wearing her influences on her sleeve. I love how many styles she goes through, and yet it feels cohesive. We are very lucky to have her back.
Half way through the album so far but had to stop and watch this performance from last night. She sounds great. I love on some of the notes she belts out and her voice gets a little...grunty/raspy? I don't know how quite to describe it.
Damn, bummed I'm not too into this. I like Praying, Learn To Let Go, and Woman, but the rest doesn't do much for me.
This is great, a little emotionally inconsistent in the second half but I like all the songs. Am I gonna have to defend Godzilla in this thread? It's fucking great.
Just listened to the album in full for the first time. Incredible. Every song on it is great (yes, even Godzilla). The standouts have got to be Let Em' Talk, Woman, Praying, and Hunt You Down. Still gotta listen a few more times though to let it really sink in
Get Boogie Feet outta here EDIT: No problem with Godzilla, though. Silly lyrics but a pretty song. Enjoy it more than Boogie Feet and Woman
Love it. I got kinda annoyed by those wondering if she'd still put out good music after Dr. Luke, like duh she would. I guess I've always viewed her as a talented and intelligent songwriter so this album just taps into how great she's always been imo. I can't wait to sing and dance to it in the car with my friends. I just started my second listen thru the album so I haven't processed everything, but fun, feel-good, and empowering is what I've walked away with so far! I was unsure if I wanted to go to her show just cause it's the weekend before Halloween and I might be busy, but it's def higher on my priority list now.
God, I love this record until "Boogie Feet" stops it dead in its tracks. Should've left that in the garbage where it belongs. "Boots" isn't much better.
