Kinda wish it wasn't as straightforwardly pop-punkish but it works. the EP was far-reaching in its sonic territory, so I'm hoping he ventures out a bit more.
I'm expecting some crazy things from this guy after Highway EP but damn if he goes down this pop punk route. Songs are definitely fun but he had something going for him with that EP.
I like Kenny and his ability to bridge the gap between Bloc Party vocals and Blink melodies. But man, there's something with the way Travis produces (or maybe it's the mix) that makes the guitars and drums sound kind of lifeless and sterile that I don't enjoy at all. I have the same problem with some of his other productions, so it doesn't apply just to this.
Yeah, I can’t stand those super clean, overproduced drums. Doesn’t sound like a human played them. there’s a few songs I enjoy on this but really hope it’s the end of his collaboration with Barker
This absolutely slaps. I don’t think it’s generic at all. It’s not Travis’ fault he’s a human metronome. Sure, the guitar lines are pretty easy. But they are really just there to complement the vocal melodies, which are really fun. “Smoke Break” and “Survivors Guilt” are the standouts for me aside from the singles.
Loving this release so much. It is pretty awesome that Travis is sharing the Blink magic with these young musicians. Kenny's lyrics are so strong. All around an amazing Mixtape. It leaves me super excited for future releases where he is back on his own.
cool set of songs, but definitely feels more commercial than how will i rest. kinda miss the post-punk and electronic elements.
the heavy part on inside of heaven's mouth is better than most newer screamo bands i've heard in years.
I think if I had to pick a favorite out of all of Travis’s new “scene” of collaborators, or whatever, it would be KennyHoopla.
