Feel like Wayne isn't really relevant right now. I respect his work obviously but when's the last time he was really even in the zeitgeist? 2018 for Tha Carter V? Why would he of all people do a Superbowl Halftime Show right now? Lol
It’s so funny the 2022 halftime show suddenly make people think it was a hometown act when in reality it’s never been that lol love the hometown act of The Weeknd for Florida or Rihanna for Arizona
Kendrick consistently puts on incredible performances both at concerts and on tv. Love and respect to Lil Wayne but I don’t think he has it in him even if he has the hits
I actually think Wayne is dropping some phenomenal verses these days. That doesn't mean he's in shape to play the Super Bowl.
Even as someone that considers Lil Wayne to be one of his 5 favorite rappers of all time, it's pretty clear that the moment to have Wayne headline the super bowl has passed
I wouldn't necessarily say that because they just had Rihanna and Usher headline. But it does seem like the right moment for them to capitalize on the Kendrick hype
I think people wanted it to be a hometown thing because you have (former) mega artist in Lil Wayne and because of his career length you could get a ton of guests for it.
