I will sometimes throw video essays on at like 1.25x speed at work in the background. Basically a podcast

 

I fall asleep to some good 4-5 hour YouTube podcasts and not throwing shade at them either, Stephen.

If i read a decently long book, that takes more than 3 hours. A good video essay, like any media, can be long!

 

Long-ass podcasts get me through the workday

 

been a big fan of video essays recently. the goal isn't to watch a long-ass video in one sitting, but to break it up into natural cut points across several days

 

I broke it up into several pieces yesterday and finished the whole 3.5 hour video. Part of it I listened to like a podcast and watched the back half before I fell asleep.

I can't do video essays constantly, I gotta have some geneal tv shows or smaller youtube vids to break it up, but every once in a while a nice long video essay is cool to dive into

 

and of course it would be a disservice to forget this one

 

I put video essays on while I’m playing something on my switch or steam deck

 

A lot of video essays are significantly better than the Netflix docuseries of the week

 

the only video essay i can think of that I was glad to watch is the stuff that jon bois has done

 

I don’t even watch 5 minute videos on YouTube I could never watch a video essay. That’s very much a me thing though

 

same podcasts too are usually too long for me haha I tune out very easily
