I’ll have to let this sit a bit more. It feels like a bit of a retread after Mr Morale, but I am enjoying myself. Not sure how well it’ll stick. heart part 6 is incredible, tho.
No, I meant like he isn’t pushing as hard as he did on that album. Also, what do we call this? Is it G-N-X, or Gen-X?
Misty has already hinted at an album in 2025 Kendricks announcement video of this album contained a clip of a song that's not on this album...
This is really good, and immediate in a way I don't think Morale or DAMN were. I really, really like both of those records, but they both took a little bit to connect with me.
Started a second listen, wacced out murals really does go off. Perfect opening track for the album. Squabble Up is great but I can't help but feel like he went "alright Not Like Us popped off, I can do that again but not have it be about Drake" lol
DAMN is one of his most immediate records IMO. Mr. Morale is amazing but a total 180 from DAMN and this kind of sound- that was a very complex, introspective album that mined his trauma. This in comparison feels like a celebration.
I became a Kendrick fan for life the day good kid dropped and my mind was blown in the dorms. Unreal how good Kendrick fans are eating this year
Am I crazy for hearing a similar structure between the two? Feel free to let me know if I am, I don't mean it in a bad way at all as I greatly enjoy both and to be fair, it was only my second listen of the song so far
Where it stands, I think it’s a good album and my initial favorite of his in a long time. Immediate tracks, some good hooks, obviously great technical skill. I’m also not the biggest Kendrick stan and don’t think he’s making the most interesting hip hop in 2024. It’s good to see him having some fun on a record, I can see me playing it more than just about anything else from him Anyway stream that new Harry Fraud x Boldy James tape too
Wasn't directly calling you out or anything, more commenting on most of the discourse in general (especially criticisms)
