The last time Wayne was involved in a high profile beef was when he was destroyed by Pusha T... which sounds awfully familiar as a situation He should probably stay out of this
Album has grown on me significantly the past couple days. Pretty much only the title track that i dislike.
I’m of the belief that Kendrick doesn’t make bad songs, so I def like some more than others but like the less than songs more than a lot of rappers
The thing about the title track I've been seeing around is that the beat is too weird/off kilter but it's not??? Like there's been some Danny Brown beats that are way weirder and that's still really mainstream now compared to some other underground stuff, title track is a fun posse cut
Off-kilter is definitely an apt word for it, I think the reason it feels particularly strange is that you expect beats like that from Danny Brown.
I don’t like the chorus or the verses and it doesn’t feel like a Kendrick song because he’s…basically not on it
I agree it doesn’t really feel like a Kendrick song but it doesn’t bother me. Not great but not bad, a little weird that it’s the title track but I guess he’s just trying to uplift the features. The beat is definitely not “weird” for me and doesn’t bring to mind Danny Brown either, whose recent work is moreso vulnerable than off-kilter anyway
Oh I didn't say the beat reminded me of Danny Brown, just that I've seen people say it's too "weird" and Danny Brown was what first comes to mind for "weirder" beats he's rapped over and again even that is pretty mainstream now, and yea I honestly love that he features upcoming LA artists on it because they do a great job Peekaboo I also don't have a problem with, it's fun and the way he says "Peekaboo" starting each bar is really fun
The important thing is 'fuck a double entendre, I need y'all to feel this shit', so the party bangers like Squabble Up and TV Off go down the same as the above from Peekaboo. Kendrick obviously has a lot of fun on songs like that and GNX, he's thankfully whole-assing everything on this record.
