After my third listen I’m very happy with this. It flows very well. Wasn’t feeling Gloria as a closer but it’s warming up to me. Like that K Dot ends the album on gassing up his woman.
As a Jack superfan, I absolutely hear him all over this record. Like... "luther" is Jack top to bottom, beautiful
I love this a whole lot, even more than I did yesterday. Don’t think I dislike a single track and the length is perfect.
It's also about his love of creativity and the rap game, which I thought was a nice touch bc Watch the Party Die was him being disillusioned as fuck.
At his best I think Kendrick is my favorite modern day rapper, Mr morale didn't really stick with me as much as his previous albums, I hope this one grows on me more.
SILENCE! A 5'5" man with hate in his heart is talking. Also the production on luther is so beautiful I almost cried the first time I heard it.
i wondered this too. Genius thinks it's referencing The Day the Party Died - "i made the party die just so i could resurrect it". the second bleeped put part was clearly about Diddy
Can confirm these songs go crazy in a party setting which obviously means they will translate very well live. I’m still obsessed with Wacced Out, also as someone who’s kind of grown towards listening to newer wave/more melodic hip hop as my preference, I’m a huge fan of his story telling and I find Gloria, Heart Pt 6 and Reincarnated all to work so well because of the vintage hip hop feel. This feels like it’s an ode to not just the west coast but the roots of the genre as a whole and it’s very well executed.
