Back to DAMN. I could really do without the guy yelling "New shit! New kung fu kenny!" due to the fact that this will not be 'new' in a few months.
I imagine DRAM's more jazzy tracks would sound excellent before Kendrick's set. Not a huge fan of Travis Scott but doesn't shock me hes an opener, they have songs together after all
Absolutely insane show last night, incredible end to Coachella. So many great things to say about his set, blown away.
There's a theory that a metaphor from one Kendrick song could be the same metaphor from a different song?
I've heard DRAM. I like his music. But nahh that doesn't make any sense. Say what you want about Travis (personally I dislike his music), but he makes sense.
Oh yeah I forgot any people touring together have to sound 98% identical or people get too confused and start puking in their seats and venues shouldn't have to clean that up
This is what happens when uptight pop punk dorks get into hip hop! I can just see this same argument happening 10 years ago when a "punk" band took out an up and comer
Yep, that's what I said. Have you seen DRAM live? I've seen him 3 times in the last year and a half. He does not make sense on the size of this stage, with the tone of this tour. Good for him for getting the look, but it's a really weird opener choice.
It makes perfect sense to me. While I'm thrilled that Kendrick is performing arenas now, he's untested as an arena headliner. He has to bring someone along with him that has heavy hype at this moment but isn't at his size as an artist and doesn't have as much of a back catalog demanding longer sets. Enter D.R.A.M.
As far as Travis goes he probably babysat Kendrick's dogs once or took him to the airport once and Kendrick owes him idk
Back to the hook thing, I looked through Kendrick's catalog to think about what songs he's made that make me say "Yes this is a good hook" and I came up with 7ish, that's not very many. Definitely an area he can improve on and he's already amazing as it is without great hooks so it doesn't really matter too much but it'd be awesome to hear how he is with improved hooks at some point.
