Love is so good and I can't wait to make some memories to attach to that song. It's got that kind of melody, if that makes sense.
To be clear, i meant in terms of production it feels like a mixtape. Sound changes up a lot but without actually trying creative stuff like TPAB did and doesn't always feel like it's the best beat for a song. There's definitely themes, lot of religious and self conscious approach to fame and isolation. Not sure I'd call it a narrative, but that's not a criticism as much as it is an interesting departure from his other work.
I don't really know if I buy the whole "2 album" theory but my local record store just posted on FB: "Kendrick Lamar 'DAMN.' cd should be out early next week. We will post when it comes in. Digital only today for 'security reasons.'" Which seems... kinda weird.
Remember when Kendrick's sister hinted at the J Cole collab album lol I really think this is the only album, even if there are crazy theories
Maybe that means they didn't trust copies to local record stores not to leak it, but sent them to the big stores for Friday release?
