HUMBLE. is officially Kendrick's highest charting solo single, debuted at #2 this week. First time in the Top 10 solo, otherwise has been there on Bad Blood Remix, Don't Wanna Know and Fuckin Problems
I was thinking this morning about Top Dawg saying that the 7th was supposed to be the single, and how there is no way that was ever true. Kendrick is playing Coachella this upcoming Sunday, and the Sunday after. If the album came out April 7, then BOTH weekends would have been able to listen to the album and prepare/get to know it, now only Weekend 2 concert-goers will be able to hear the album before his set. I don't see a world where they actually planned it that way, at all
There was a rumor/"insider leak" on Reddit either soon before or after Humble was released that stated the album got delayed until the 14th because of a legal issue with a sample that was getting worked out. I can't find the link anymore but it sounds plausible.
Well yeah, but the chances that someone out in the desert is going to stream or download the album, during two other days of the festival when other bands are playing, is way less likely than when the same concert goers are sitting at home. Take me for example. If I was going weekend 1, I wouldn't be able to listen before his set. I am going weekend 2 however, so I will be getting fair amount of listens ahead of time. I consider this a win for me
I mean it drops Thursday night so most people will be camping and not really have a chance to get to know the album between then and his performance
We all know there are obviously ways to listen, even at a festival, but step back a second and tell me that it's not WAY smarter to plan for the album to be released the week before Coachella, instead the weekend of.
I read somewhere that he wants an album he can perform live in full or something like that where everyone experiences it before they hear the actual album. kind of like what bino did.
Yeah, I mean I totally dig that idea too and think what Gambino did was pretty amazing. I don't think that would be THIS album for Kendrick though, or else the original release date woulda been after both Coachella weekends, yeah?
I was specifically talking about Coachella. There would logistically be time for most concert goers to listen to this before heading to the actual grounds of the festival.
DAMN. 1. Blood 2. D.N.A 3. Yah 4. Element 5. Feel 6. Loyalty ft. Rihanna 7. Pride 8. Humble 9. Lust 10. Love 11. XXX ft. U2 12. Fear 13. God 14. Duckworth
Was gonna say this is his first project withoit a TDE feature, but TPAB didn't have any either. Still crazy about the lack of features, and that 50% of them is U2 haha.
