Such a strange movie. Not entirely sure how I feel about it, but some of it legitimately gave me chills haha
the 16 year old couple next to me talking throughout the entire movie probably didn’t help but i thought this was a fucking snooze.
Better than the monkey lots of “scary imagery” but overall a little thin didn’t hate it, pretty solid
Basically cross posting from the horror thread but I also don’t get the hate for this. Solid, simple horror flick with 2 great performances.
Last 35 minutes mostly rocked, first hour not so much. Suffers from the Longlegs thing of an underwritten idea overstuffed with WTF moments. Perkins' writing just lacks so much subtlety for what it's trying to be imo. It's distracting. Good performances, at least. Going to have to chew on this one
I could not wait for this one to be over The one thing it had going for it was the creature design. The dialog was awful and made no sense
I am not a fan of the "exposition dump at the 75-minute mark to attempt to tie everything you just saw together" structure. Takes a really fleshed-out vision to pull it off well, and I just don't think this one was there
That was one of my biggest problems with Longlegs; that entire scene with the mom essentially just regurgitating the entire story and reveal.
I did like Rossif Sutherland in this, didn’t recognize him at all and kinda assumed he was like a Norwegian actor or something. Had that kinda vibe (complimentary)
Perkins didn't write this one fwiw. just directed I'm clearly on an island with this take but this is probably in my top 10 this year
it does sound like it was brought about by the canadian workers they already had wanting to continue working and them finding canadian workers to appease that which i get but it does feel scabby
