Yeah my first listen was very similar to when I first went through the NPR stream of Golden Hour. I knew instantly that I had found an all-timer. This is one of the best records I’ve ever fucking heard. Can’t even begin to get over it.
Yeah, I get a lot of the same feelings about it that I did with Golden Hour. I probably even like it a little more.
Katie Pruitt Has Reason to Believe She was chosen as Rolling Stone’s latest “artist you need to know.”
Giving this my first listen and woah - that high note/yell on "My Mind's a Ship." Only two songs in and I can already tell that I love this.
I had it on my list to check out, but when you said in the Jason thread that it was your AOTY, I had to prioritize it. Rarely connect so quickly with new (to me) artists. Already so excited to dive into this album headfirst, and I'm only halfway through my first listen!
It's her debut record, which is honestly astonishing to me. Totally agreed, though: I was all-in on this one within about 30 second of the first song.
this is cool. String arrangement of “wishful thinking” https://www.instagram.com/tv/CAN-5CYhwi1/?igshid=1cubw6astjfz6
This is a captivating listen - only discovered it through seeing it on the mid-year lists on Chorus. A couple of months later and I love it! Thanks for the recommendation everyone!
Phoebe and Waxahatchee are giving it a run and we’ll see how Ruston goes, but yeah this is a top tier release in a year that’s probably one of the best for new music in a long, long time.
Phoebe fell out of rotation for me a lot faster than I expected. Need to go back to it. In fairness, it'll probably feel more fitting in the fall.
