Got your album of the year for 2020, right here. This record knocked me on my ass. People on this site are going to love it. Thanks to @Matt Chylak for posting about her on Twitter last week. 1. Wishful Thinking 2. My Mind’s A Ship (That’s Going Down) 3. Expectations 4. Out Of The Blue 5. Normal 6. Grace Has A Gun 7. Searching For Truth 8. Georgia 9. Loving Her 10. It’s Always Been You
You have it? Ahhh!! I’m so glad to hear it’s great, and I hope it captures her passionate delivery. She sang about six songs when she opened for Ruston last year and I was completely blown away by what she was able to do. Have been waiting patiently for this release ever since.
Yeah, it landed in my inbox a few days after you shared that song. It's the most well-sung album I've heard since Caitlyn Smith, and the most I've been blown away on a first listen since that album too. And that record ended up my album of the year last year, so I think this one is definitely going to be a favorite in 2020.
I saw her open for Donovan Woods last year and she came out and joined him for his duet I Ain’t Ever Loved No One. What a great combo. Both had such charming, funny and honest banter. I was curious when she’d have something. Nice to see she’s got an album coming out and good job posting about her here:
Oh damn didn't know there was a thread for this. Reading this makes me feel much better about pre-ordering.
“Out Of the Blue” is such a gorgeous swoon of a song. Anyone who likes Taylor’s “Lover” should be similarly all over this.
I like the pattern of her releasing 1 new song and 1 rerecorded song. "Grace Has A Gun" sounds incredibly warm and her vocals are top-notch (as usual). Hoping that's it before the album drops in a month, I've been playing the hell out of the tracks that are out.
Weirdly, the track order has changed on the stream they sent me. I don't like this order as much as the one in the OP. Hope it's not what they're going with.
Just the sequence. They swapped some stuff that was in the second half into the first half. I can’t figure out why, and all the tracklists on iTunes and Amazon and such are still the same.
I had put this one away for a little while and am really enjoying going back to it now. Unfortunately probably not going to have time to write a full review, but I think it's just wonderful. The writing here is so raw and honest, and her vocals are out of this world. Can't wait for my vinyl to show up later today.
This is everything I hoped it would be, which is the best thing I can say about it. I feel like I'm soaring.
Only listened once in the background so far but I liked what I picked up a lot. Will listen closer later today.
I checked out the title track first and it reminded me of The War On Drugs so decided to give the full thing a go and really enjoying it so far.
