How isn't there a thread for the queen???? Been bumping Hounds of Love a lot recently. Need to dig more deeply into her other work.
Love Kate Bush, can highly recommend either The Dreaming or The Sensual World for the next steps after Hounds. The Sensual World has got (maybe) her best song on it, "This Woman's Work", but The Dreaming is probably a better overall album. It's definitely more experimental. Her live album from this year is great fun too.
she is a perfect angel Hounds/Sensual/The Dreaming became all time favorite albums for me very quickly, I've been so enamored with those ever since that I haven't listened to the rest of her discog yet but I've got it sitting and waiting to go

As far as current female singer songwriters go, she has obviously influenced Holter very heavily as well
Yeah definitely heard Holter while I was listening to that record. Found a few of her albums I hadn't heard for cheap at the record store today and decided to pick them up.
I'm glad you did, I know shamefully little about music pre-2000 but my girlfriend and her rad parents gave me some Kate Bush LPs and she's been one of my favorite if not my favorite artists ever. Hounds of Love and The Dreaming were revelatory the first time I sat down with them
Hounds of Love is incredible. It's the only album of hers I had heard before today. The Dreaming is one of the others I picked up today but didn't get the chance to listen yet.
It's probably the weirdest of what you've heard so far, she becomes a full avant-pop force. I remember listening to Ra Ra Riot as a kid and not realizing Suspended In Gaffa was a cover, was blown away when I heard the original. Her voice on that album is otherworldly.
Found three more of her tapes (Dreaming, Red Shoes, Never if Ever) last night. Got six of her albums on physical now, stoked about it
The Dreaming and Hounds of Love are both virtually perfect albums to me. I don't know much of her other material but I'm probably gonna have to pick The Sensual World now that the thread's reminded me.
