Karate Kid: Legends (Jonathan Entwistle, May 30, 2025)

I noticed this was one of the only big summer franchise films of 2025 without it's own thread.



Starring Jackie Chan and Ralph Maccio. Will tie the original Karate Kid films, Cobra Kai, and the 2010 remake together. Directed by The End of the F***ing World and I Am Not Okay With This showrunner Jonathan Entwistle.

American Born Chinese star Ben Wang will be the new "Karate Kid". Also Joshua Jackson and Danny McBride have been cast as well.

Was originally scheduled to release this month, but Sony moved it to early summer 2025 so it wouldn't conflict with the ending of Cobra Kai. It will take place canonically after Cobra Kai but will not be a direct sequel. Would not be surprised if we get a trailer soon.

I know this will tie into Cobra Kai in some way but wondering how much.

 

Trailer was shockingly good for someone who has never watched any Karate Kid content

 

Since this is tying all Karate Kid media together it would be fun if Hillary Swank showed up in this as a surprise cameo.

 

Apparently the film is set 3 years after the events of the final season of Cobra Kai and that's all the show runners of the series said
