no one can predict the future. 7 years ago Kanye was Jesus basically so

  2. I definitely struggle with it a little more than you do, I don't usually reach for those records anymore (it's rare), but I was just telling someone that he seems so radically different, not just politically but as a musician, that if I didn't know any better, I might buy into the clone-ye allegations lmao. He's unrecognizable from almost all angles, except for the one where he's always trying to take the most controversial stance. It seems like that's one of the things that got us here.

I cannot wait for the retrospectives on his life and career once all the dust settles. They're gonna be something to be studied.

I mean watching the Netflix documentary was hard enough in itself.

Can’t imagine how the MBDTF sessions will play when those get released.

All I know is when the inevitable book about the inside story of his life gets released, I will read it

It’s funny too because this is kind of a good year for rappers over 50 even

Probably easier for him to make a list of people who still hold him in some kind of favor.

  9. Having Diddy on there immediately after riding for him is hilarious. Good riddance. I would say he sounds seriously unwell but the joke names on that list makes me feel like this is more of the same bullshit from him.

I did not know this thread still existed after we got rid of the other one.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about In Whose Name?

  11. I have seen mostly positive reactions with the primary criticism being similar to jeen-yuhs -- essentially, the director only had access to film up to a certain point and had to kind of wrap things up with what he had. The clips I've seen are very uncomfortable and endearing.

However, the director was teasing some changes for the streaming version that were not a part of the theatrical release and I can't tell if he's still in Kanye's orbit or not. If he is, my curiosity is definitely dampened.

The clip of Michael Che putting him in his place after SNL is awesome. Clip of him and Elon is excruciatingly awkward.

I haven't looked into it at all. Only saw that it was playing at AMC and considered it since I have A-List but am very cautious because I'm afraid it will just paint Ye in a positive light.

I'll probably wait until I can torrent it and skim through it.

  13. Oh, if that's your concern, it definitely doesn't lol. I don't even think there's narration. Just footage of where it all went wrong over the years.

I saw In Whose Name? And thought it was awful. Neither insightful or compelling. Just a collection of Kanye freakouts from 2018 - 2024. I’ve seen better documentaries on YouTube. I think the filmmaker kinda got Stockholm syndromed into being around Kanye for so long he didn’t even think to ask Kim or anyone else from the close circle about their thoughts. It also weirdly feels like it’s missing a lot.

Michael Che confronting Kanye after SNL backstage is the highlight. Gained more respect for Che in that moment

There’s a moment near the end of the film where the camera shows us all the hard drives of footage collected, all the images being uploaded to the editing software - and the filmmaker basically admits he doesn’t know what to do with it. Mostly a waste of time

good to know on both counts. won't waste my time, but I'm glad to hear that it's not just an apologist film
