Respectfully disagree, purely cause I would put it second, behind MBDTF. To be honest though, everything up to and including Yeezus is fantastic and you can’t really go wrong.
Back in the day I would have said the same, but these days, if I can stomach him, I'm usually throwing on Graduation. It's a good mood album for me
I’ll bite... Classic Tier MBDTW 808s & Heartbreak TLOP Graduation College Dropout (demoted for skits) Late Registration (demoted for skits) Yeezus Solid Side Projects/Compilations Tier Watch The Throne Cruel Summer Kids See Ghosts Hard Pass Tier Jesus Is King Ye
LR is one that the skits don't really detract it for me. They're all pretty short and stick to the theme. CD's are pretty annoying though.
I know there’s a huge contingency that loves Graduation the most. Typically it’s people that either started there, stopped listening at that album or love pop-rap since it’s his poppiest effort.
Honestly, for his first 6 albums you could say any one of them were your favorite and I wouldn't think it was weird. Actually fuck it, I'd accept TLOP as a favorite album too He's so good at creating an entirely different vibe between projects that different ones sticking with people makes 100% sense to me
Ye Says He Invented ‘Every Style of Music of the Past 20 Years’ Trying to move the convo to a not Donda thread
Was just looking to see if we had a general Kanye thread because I don't want to create any new album threads, but discussing anything past Donda in there gives my brain the bad itch, and this seems like a better place to discuss his morbidly fascinating downfall. And how if I randomly hear a song from like, Graduation on shuffle, literally nothing else makes me feel that same sense of joy and it depresses me to no end.
This is just me, but Kanye has seemingly changed so much as a person that I can genuinely ration in my mind that "old" Kanye (2004-2017ish) and "new" Kanye are two different people. Because of this I am still okay with listening to the stuff from that old era and I can get the same enjoyment that I always did out of it, although I'm sure there's a tinge of sadness still there that wasn't there before
