it may be dumb but the only real thing that differentiates mixtape/album/EP is whatever the artist says it is. if kanye says its an album its an album
Damn I saw Kanye tweeted again and my heart skipped a beat. It was just about the Pusha T and Teyana Taylor release dates tho. Edit: late post lol
I agree I'd call it an EP most likely, but I prefer this trend exponentially to the "every album has 20 songs on it now" trend that has been going on lately
I really think these will come out when he says. Honestly I'm not sure if he ever actually gave a concrete date for Pablo, he just kept making it seem like it was coming. Even if he did give dates, I think it's a different situation, it seems like everyone he's working with is legitimizing this, plus it seems more planned out (he didn't just by chance start doing his twitter philosophy book right before announcing it, he was making sure everyone was watching).
do you call wish you were here an ep oh wait i forgot you’ve never heard an album made before 95 that’s right
Almost every Kanye album has at least one song that is 6-12 minutes, so I definitely think we'll be getting some more long tracks this time.
It’s so fun leaving work with a silly statement and checking my phone to lots of notifications My little pea brain can’t hold attention that long
We're missing a June 15th release date - make sense that they, as a collective, are releasing these albums week by week. Who are we missing? Or is that slot open for Drake?
Kanye could make it a one-track album with the track being 40 minutes in length, and if he says it's an LP, it's an LP.
IMO album vs. EP has more to do with intention. An EP is something to hold you over to the main event. If the artist intends to push the project full-on, tour around it, etc. and they call it an album, it's an album.
Yeah, when he first said 7 tracks I was like "oh nice, 7 tracks that are 5+ minutes in length, I'm in!" then remembered that Weeknd album and it would make so much sense for Kanye to just do something like that.
