I really really like the sample/vibe of "Lift Yourself" before the lyrics kick in. Am I the only one? Of course it's still a joke that it's actually being "released" and it's a damn shame the idea is being wasted like that
the vibe is cool, the sample is cool, but the beat still sounds totally unfinished. even if you replace the poopity with a real verse it's still a pretty subpar kanye song imo.
it's the bare minimum of what you have to do to make a sample not sound like outright theft lol. His samples are usually really inventive and breathe new life into the source material and the songs are packed with a lot surrounding the samples. This is just...bare and bland.
Also, when the hell is this Charlamagne interview coming? Do they not realize that every day that passes without it, it becomes more and more dated. The interview was filmed a few days before Kayne's Trump twitter rant, so it's already lacking the topics the viewers are hoping to hear about.
Kanye always either hums or mumbles or says random shit in a flow then will go back and write to it. Or other artist will do it for another artist. Like kanye did a reference track for Uzi, Kendrick has a reference track for All Day, etc.
open letter to Kanye from his mom's surgeon, whom Kanye said he wanted on the album cover https://3xf8fq40r09d2057kq393vj4-wp...430_An-Open-letter-to-Kanye-West-TheBlast.pdf
I feel like this letter went a little to far... but I wouldn't want my name attached to anything Kanye related right now.
Yeah I'm not really sure where the complaints about the production on LY is coming from. Even saw some guy on twitter, cut a beat and tried to better Kanye, which like... come on dude.
Yea I mean the journey of me listening to it was like “Oh damn this is awesome....... .... Ohhhhh god no”
I mean it's clearly half baked and you'd be calling this a demo that could some day be a decent song if it was any other artist
