IMO that album is their biggest outlier in terms of their overall sound so this confuses me,but it also was the first album they released after I really got into them so maybe I just have some real rose-colored glasses on it. Regardless, it's a deeply personal album for me and I will never not love it.
Y'all will come around when you put on Panic Stations and Go and then slowly realize you actually never listen to them these days for good reasons. I'm out of hot takes, what thread am I in? Oh. I should go somewhere else.
I like the 1975 and I really want to truly love them, but I can't listen to their full albums very often.
If we’re throwing out random hot takes - I think Chance’s line in “May I Have This Dance?” where he says “I love you more than your mother” to his daughter is super weird and if I were her mom, I’d be insulted.
I really liked 3 or 4 songs off 1975's last album... but fuck if it isn't entirely too long. Still respect a lot of the love people have for them, they just don't connect with me that much.
Oh and I'm sorry but "I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It" is a super pretentious name for an album
I'm not as defensive about them because they are my least favorites, but they both still have songs that I think are truly fantastic (Timelines, Floating Down the River off Go; I Can Feel You is a top 5 MCS song of all time for me). But I absolutely still revisit them just about as frequently as the rest of the MCS catalogue.
It's fine. CTTM just did it better, and it's a massive step down from EIIKM that was pitched as a "RETURN TO FORM!" and that'll always bug me. IMO.
Is it? Alright then I will 100% give them props on that. I honestly didn't know that and that they had a sense of humor. Good for them, genuinely.
EIIKM is so vastly underrated tho it might actually be their best album but i have so much nostalgia and so many memories and so much emotional catharsis tucked into the corners of CTTM that it kinda has to be my #1
I’m usually one of those people who doesn’t like when threads go off track but I couldn’t be more content about it in this case Also, I didn’t listen to ILIWYS for a good year because the title turned me off, then I didn’t get why people liked it so much for another full year, but by 2017 I was in love and now I can’t wait for whatever’s next from them
i was watching that live concert of the 1975 thats up on youtube and having a good cry last night i cant wait for MFC
Music For Cars is a really good title for an album I can get down with that I'll probably give them a 3rd chance to get into them, hopefully they click for me
