I know what you mean and I agree w/ you I also understand why some peeps would find the record sloppy
I have liked all of his albums, including WTT, but TLOP did not connect with me at all. I definitely see how it feels sloppy. Still really excited to hear what he has cooking now.
I don't think the post-"Wolves" songs flow particularly well. They're just there. I know they're "bonus" tracks, canonically, but they make up like a little over 20 minutes of the album. They aren't bad songs, a couple are great, but they don't feel as important to the narrative he was weaving from "Ultralight Beam" through "Wolves", and again, I know they're """""bonus""""" tracks, but they're treated like more of a part of the Life of Pablo than, say, "See Me Now" is treated as a part of MBDTF. I think TLOP is as fascinating a record as he's put out, while at the same time embodying a lot of my least favorite sides of his personality/persona for much of the runtime, with very little to none of some of my favorite aspects of Kanye. There's a lot of criticism he gets for being detached in recent years when it comes to race/racism, his frustrations and anger towards racism coming largely when he faces it personally in his elite, bourgeoisie world, at the expense of his addressing the larger institutions of racism and white supremacy, and how they affect other people. The legitimate obstacles he faced getting into fashion or technology may be valid frustrations for him, but are so insular and specific to his experience that, if he isn't also engaging with those structures at large, which he has done so brilliantly on so many of his records, (particularly Dropout, LR, MBDTF, and Yeezus), then the listening experience feels a bit more hollow, not as socially complex and resonant as his best work. I love introspective, personal Kanye, but the balance skewed a bit too far towards self-aggrandizing without self awareness on TLOP for me, personally.
Family photos from Easter are on Kim's website, but they are all behind a paywall... here's a cute one though
