how does kanye emerge from an opioid addition as a fuckin right winger. my addiction pushed me even further left if there was such a thing
It still baffles me how folks could see someone promote the idea that institutional racism doesn't exist and be like, Nate I can't believe youre fed up over this difference in opinion. Like... it depends on the opinion, motherfucker.
Been wondering if I should even say anything but I might as well address the fact that I will still be openly looking forward to this album. Kanye means way too much to me for this admittedly shitty situation to make me drop him. He may hold some horrible views but the impact that he’s had on my life is intangible and this simply isn’t enough for me to cut ties with him. I entirely understand why anyone would want to and I have absolutey no plans to defend him on this, but unless I’m literally the only person here who still wants to discuss the album, I still plan to. I really hope this comes off the right way, like I said I completely understand anyone who wants to drop him over this and will not argue with any of them. The Donald Glover tweet I can get behind though
How is this supposed to come off? Why do you need to be publicly excited about something, especially if it makes those around you uncomfortable? Why is this not something you could keep to yourself? I am also going to listen to the new album and look forward to it, but I feel no need to actively rub it in people’s faces.
I like discussing music with other people, I didn’t mean to sound like I want to rub it in or anything. I meant it when I said that I entirely understand anyone who doesn’t want to support him anymore
That's exactly where I stand. It def comes off as poster saying their attachment to the music is more important than the issues. I know the poster is not directly saying that, but it comes off that way. I even questioned whether or not to say I'd still be listening, and it was probably a pointless thing to say.
eeeh... some people do not attribute a moral value to consuming art you can listen to Burzum and acknowledge Varg is a POS ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Jason made a point about this in the Accountability thread stop ganging on people with different views on art vs. artist and look inside yrslf
I can understand this. Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything, I’m just kind of having a hard time with this, like I did with the Bill Cosby tweet.
It'll be hard to avoid his new material in general. Obviously it isn't going to be hard for people to just NOT listen, if they choose to do that but again I'm not here to shit all over someone for listening/enjoying/etc.
Today was a tough day at work but then I thought “well at least I’m not the PR person for Cudi, Nas, Pusha, and Teyana”
there's a big difference between doing that and straight up being like "you know what guys, no matter what happens, i'll be here to discuss!"
