I mean, even Yeezus had a lot of really strong political statements in it. This degradation was quick
Yeah, but I can see where the points from A to B to C come in I guess? At least the, I overcame this/victim mentality stuff. Not that I agree with it of course, it's really shitty.
aye, e.g. New Slaves has some really smart observations also a lot of misogyny but yeah interesting fellow for sure I wish he developed his points instead of just vomiting half-thoughts on on us... makes me curious if he has actually given thought to the nonsense he spews also kind of sad he decides to use his (immense) platform to inflate himself further instead of maybe helping marginalized minorities but... that’s Kanye, and Kanye will be Kanye i.e. huge ego - that’s what we love/hate about him that same ego has propelled him to do a lot of very intesting powerful things let’s see... some people change, but it’s also clear that money/power does some really weird things to people
Seen some people compare him to Morrissey and no he isn't as bad as Morrissey. Not even remotely close.
It’s close if you take his platforming of the views to millions of people at its value. Morrissey is saying some abhorrent shit to a much smaller group at the moment. Morrissey is promoting far right morons too, but I’m not sure his influence is anywhere near Kanye level. Go look at the Candice number increases in search, follows, views, and mentions in just two days. It’s scary af.
Kanye tweeting himself, personally, about thought police and self-victimization isn’t at all far off from Morrissey, never mind his endorsement of a dangerous, far right lunatic shill.
Morissey has said a lot of awful shit. Having a bigger platform to say awful things doesn’t make Kanye as a person worse than Morissey imo. I put them about on par with each other...not that this is a helpful discussion to have in any case
I don't see why it matters who is worse between Morrissey and Kanye, one being worse doesn't make the other any better, they are both people who have rabid fan bases that are very truly influenced by the things each of them say. To use either of their platforms, however big or small, to advocate for people who spread hateful ideology is wrong. I don't see the debate.
agreed. they just both happen to be popular & influential musicians that suddenly decided to spout horrible reactionary bullshit at similar times. even if one may be more popular than the other, they're both wrong for their rhetoric, and that's all that needs to be said.
Love seeing right wing shitheads rallying to defend Kanye West, a guy they probably hated two days ago.
