    Did it though?

I mean, eventually, yeah, but what were Em's numbers week 1?

Not saying you're wrong, I just couldn't find the numbers easily.

I wasn’t giving the project more merit. To me it’s like watching professional athletes live and realizing that even the guys riding the bench are just on a different planet athletically than a normal person.

Kanye shit out an album in 2 days that while a lot of people don’t like it. A lot of people do. It’s been pretty polarizing. Here and music critic twitter, range from all out hate to a shrug. My friends IRL have been gushing over it. I find myself in the middle now that a week has passed. It’s his worst record by a significant margin, but I enjoy it.

“Yikes” is at least close to the worst Kanye song ever though. Most everything else I think I’d have scattered throughout the middle to lower third of his output.

I think the point is he didn’t have to do shit, he self-imposed this restriction on time to see what would come out of it

there are no deadlines in itself re: art - Kanye created that deadline

I for one find it interesting when artists do stuff like that

hey, I’ve always been a perfectionist, let’s see what happens if I limit myself to 1 week or whatever

also, I don’t see how one can say crafting 4 albums in one month is lazy btw - we’re down to 2/4 and the Push one is good and ye is well notorious, let’s leave it at that haha

I'll say everyone I know in real life that is a Kanye fan is loving this album with little to no negative response, outside of poking fun at the lyrics. But even then, they don't care because "he's always been iffy with lyrics."

i can't tell if that's one of TMT's classic joke reviews or what

    haven’t read it yet

what does it say that made you feel that way?

it doesn’t surprise me they like it - they’re pretty big on Kanye and all this sort of hyper-reality/awarness stuff

the review reads like a whole joke in the TMT style. truly can't tell tbh

Every time someone reminds me Kanye produced the Pusha record, my brain needs to restructure itself completely. The difference in quality is discombobulating.

I'm still kinda baffled at how much people love the Pusha T record. It's good but nowhere near mindblowing like everyone is making it out to be

Not mindblowing, but I'd call it a nearly flawless rap album, certainly Pusha's best. Pusha is consistently the best he's been in terms of lyrics on that album, has hooks, and the production fits his style very well. The only thing I'd switch out is the cover tbh.

It's fine. My friends have lowered the bar so much when it comes to hip hop albums that both this and Pusha's album get credit for being super short and not having filler

Not that this helps this particular convo but I'd take his verse on Pusha's over any verse on ye lol

the pusha album is just so addicting. the short run time makes it easy to throw on (and finish) in almost any setting. a lot of my drives (to work, to the airport, to the area we usually go to eat) is all around 20 minutes, so it's perfect to listen to this. i wouldn't go so far to call it a flawless rap album, but i do agree that it doesn't have any filler. a lot of the beats are pretty simple but the samples are great and it actually sounds like he put a lot of time into perfecting them.

Pusha's flow and wordplay just do it for me, in addition to really digging the beats and samples.

the review doesn't talk about the music, it feels like it's sarcastic the whole time about the "kanye west is one of us" mentality

it has nothing to do with me not liking it or not, it's with how it reads
