I'm aware that the United States had what's known as the "global anti-communism" policy during the Cold War, which I think was a terrible idea for a bunch of reasons... however I think blaming all of the failings of communism as an economic system and form of government on capitalist countries' interventions is being too generous. I'm not saying that we know for sure that it could NEVER work, because of course you can't prove an absolute like that, but the fact remains that there's a ton of data points from that 100 year time period and none of them are successful. It's not like it was only tried once or twice.
