For just a couple points
-the USSR had a lower homelessness rate and a higher literacy rate than the US
-communism hasn’t been a part of the North Korean constitution since the 70s (and you could argue pretty compellingly that any country headed by a dynasty can’t be socialist by default)
-Cuba has what’s frequently considered one of the best healthcare systems in the world
This isn’t to say these places didn’t have their faults - any country does - but it’s to say that their faults weren’t necessarily caused by economic policy, but more generally by poor leadership. Nowhere did Marx advocate throwing political opponents into forced labor camps, for example. That’s not a tenet of communism. Exploitation of workers is a tenet of capitalism, however

 

I can defend capitalism in general without defending the atrocities of slavery.

 

I don't get it. Eating dogs is inhumane but eating other meat isn't? Don't fool yourself. The meat you eat isn't humanely prepared, whether it's a dog from the street or if it's a farm animal.

 

Then if you’re going to say this you can understand why someone would defend communism without defending the atrocities by countries that claim to be communist, right?

Can you name a country that is a communist country where it “worked”?

Not socialist, communist.

 

If we’re talking communism in the Marxist sense, then I can’t name a country that has ever been communist, period, because no stateless and classless society has existed, at least not in modern times

 

My grandpa had some dog to eat while at war overseas and said it tasted kinda like the smell of a wet dog and he wanted to vomit.

 

Fun fact there was exactly one communist country in history which had a king, not a dynasty that is de facto a monarchy, but an actual king. During WW2 Romania had a fascist, nazi-aligned government. As the Soviets broke into the country, the military unilaterally declared a ceasefire. Opposition parties led by the communists worked with the king to trick the fascist prime minister and overthrow him. The king invited the prime minister to his palace, saying he had found a historically significant or especially valuable or something artifact in the royal vault. The prime minister came, the king said "after you," and then locked the prime minister in the vault and deposed him. The communists, having just been put into power by the king, couldn't really deposed h right away, so for I think about 9 months Romania was a communist country with a reigning monarch.

 

I appreciate your post, and understand that I was wrong in the dog post (thanks Wharf Rat), but isn’t the closest country to effectively implementing communism Denmark? And even that is more socialistic than full on communistic.

I dunno, dog from a street sounds a lot more humane than farm animal.

That dog could of had a full life, friends, room to run, gambling buddies to play poker with.

 

They’re probably about the closest but still are pretty much just a very robust social democracy

My argument is that every time it has been attempted to be implemented, it hasn’t worked, for one reason or another.

Capitalism definitely has issues, but we have progress in science, technology, and healthcare that is driven, at its core, by competition, which thrives in a free-market economy.
