i mean, it sucks in the sense that he probably is still riding the trump is cool train, but there's been plenty of people that have taken meetings there so far that i don't doubt are trying to do some good.
I'm feeling extremely conflicted in this. I've loved nearly everything I've heard from Kanye. I find his art to be valuable and deeply stimulating and often provocative in a way that really excites me. I had this record on in the car this morning and intended on putting it in my top ten list. Yet, I find it very difficult to reconcile my love for his art with his actions. I've tried to give him every benefit of the doubt, and learning about his hospitalization caused me to feel deeply for him and empathize. But I just really don't know if I can continue to support an artist who, ostensibly, calls someone I abhor a friend. I still don't even know what to make of it, as so much of Kanye's music in the past has spoken about injustice, discrimination, and wrongdoing. But, if he is truly aligning himself with Trump, I think I'll need to distance myself from him and his art. That is a completely personal decision of course, and one I'd never expect anyone else to do. Basically, this sucks, and I feel very lost in it. I don't expect anyone to respond to this post, I just needed an outlet to express some of these feelings.
I'd be more willing to give Kanye the benefit of the doubt on this meeting if he hadn't enthusiastically endorsed Trump.
that's fair, and probably likely. idk. i'm very conflicted regarding this. the kanye inauguration tweets are bad.
kanye gonna win me back if he performs the inauguration and surprises everyone by bringing yg out for FDT
I mean Kanye West and Donald Trump behave in very similar ways. I don't think it's that unaligned with the Kanye we know to support Trump. Everything he said in support of Trump was out of respect for the public persona that he's built rather than his political views. The way Trump went about his campaign and spoke honestly without caring about repercussions is pretty much exactly what Kanye has expressed are his deepest desires.
Alright, I listened to Life of Pablo again. I can only get into Famous, Highlights, Waves, FML, Real Friends, and Saint Pablo. Other than that, the album is pretty random and I. Just. Don't. Get. It.
I think I remember Kanye saying that all politicians are racist anyway and it didn't matter to him whether it was Trump's or Clinton's brand of racism or something to that effect. I mean that's the only perspective where calling Bush out for his racism and then supporting Trump would make sense.
"sorry for donating to hillary, but can you give me a billion? thanks don, you know we've been friends for a long time"
