I'm wondering if i should make the trip now. Bought tix on Friday for tonight. Only paid $43 but idk. It'll be about 6 hours of driving round trip
Yeah, he probably needs to cancel the rest of the tour. Not good. Hope he's okay, because man this is rough.
tonight is the make-up show for the LA date he called off early, which he is bringing the inner city kids to... he better not fuck this one up
Yeah I feel for the guy. I'm not going to be one of those goons at the Golden 1 last night in the $500 Yeezy Boosts chanting "fuck you" to an artist that busts his ass like Kanye does. If any man needs a vacation from the spotlight for a few months, it's Ye. But that's not really his style.
He really has been going through a lot of shit this year and he seemed exhausted when I saw him a couple weeks back. I'm not sure that he can actually continue this tour until New Year's Eve.
the paranoia in his rant ("i know you got hitters dont send them at me etc.") is what's really concerning to me
that floating platform must really do stuff to your mind, he's so exposed up there. I would be losing my mind too if I was on a tiny floating stage above thousands of people screaming every night.
Honestly with what happened to Kim it's not surprising their paranoia is at an all time high right now
I listened to his rant because I truly believe there's incredible artistry in so much of what he does and that he deserves to be taken seriously and listened to, as he's often unfairly maligned. I've not been comfortable listening or talking about him since "Bill Cosby Innocent", and his saying he would have voted for Trump furthered that discomfort, but even still, his mind is so unique and his work and persona have meant so much to me pre-TLOP that I figured it'd be worth at least seeing what he's saying, trying to piece together some intent or context to what he's getting at. From what I watched of his talk last night, he's just become blindly insular. He is the worst parts of TLOP, indulgent and petulant while at the same time self-serious and frustrated. And while I can understand that he's coming from a wildly different place and perspective, his saying "That's how we Make America Great Again" and "It's a new world Hillary Clinton"/"It's a new world Barack", those are words and phrases that could come from Alex Jones or Michael Savage. He is completely wrapped up in his own wealthy frustrations: feuding with Jay over Tidal or whatever, angry with Mark Zuckerberg for not calling him back, and sure maybe he has legitimate grievances, but it feels like Tracy Morgan in 30 Rock when he's trying to re-connect with the common man, asking the janitor if he ever has problems with his bedroom's retractable roof opening and closing because he can't find the remote. But even more disheartening to me than the statement of Trump support is his telling black people not to talk about race so much. I do hope he's healthy, but I can't lie that it's a little hard to be empathetic to someone who appears to lack it for so many others if he's constantly defending rapists and endorsing Trump and telling oppressed people to "talk about anything else". I'm not one to speculate on the mental health of someone I don't know, but even given that, he has for awhile been on an indefensible path in the things he's been saying. I hope the best for him and that people close to him reach out, but he deserves to be called out too.
I'm honestly very worried for him. I understand the outrage at some of the stuff he has said but my biggest feeling is concern right now.
I really thought the "America is racist, get over it and stop talking about it so much" talk from the San Jose show was just another "BILL COSBY INNOCENT" type of shit. But after last night, I am actually concerned that this man is losing it. Like, it's getting beyond the typical Kanye West persona stuff.
oh i agree. i could just totally see his focus being on remaining healthy and not necessarily on others' health. wasn't trying to start anything, sorry
I know cudi wasn't in for drugs or anything but when I did rehab one of the things I was told is important is to be selfless so that's why I think he could want to help kanye if he sees him struggling
