An admirable stance man, but I'm struggling with this one. I listen to TLOP in full at least 3x a week, and all his other stuff inbetween, so cutting all that out is difficult. I don't wanna make excuses, both for what he said and why I'm not fully condeming him, so I'm personally holding my hands up and saying I'm garbage here.

Did not expect something to come along and make me question/challenge my stance on this sort of thing so quickly after the election.

the transcript of what he said is fucking incomprehensible. this is the first time that it really feels like he was speaking complete gibberish on stage to me.

can anyone make sense of like, any of this:

Thank you—that’s a woman right there, saying “I love you,” after I just said that there was things that I liked about Trump’s campaign. That’s not supposed to happen, right? Case in point. I guess we’re just not gonna sell out the rest of the tour now.

There’s nonpolitical methods to speaking that I like, that I feel were very futuristic. And that style, and that method of communication, has proven that it can beat a politically correct way of communication. And I fuck with that. [He stops to sign a fans Yeezy.] I don’t say 2020 out of disrespect to our president, at all. I’m not saying that, ‘Oh man, that just mean that anybody can win.’ That’s not what I’m saying when I say 2020. I just said, I got some ideas about the way we should connect our ideas. And we should use opposite parties that the Republicans, that the Democrats, that everyone that ran that had an idea that people agreed with, should be the collective ideas that are used to run the country. And that should mean more. So there’s things that Benjamin Carson believes in that I believe in. I think that Benjamin Carson should still be a consultant. I think that Hillary Clinton should still be a consultant. I think that Bill Clinton should still be a consultant. I think Obama should still be a consultant. Instead, ‘Oh, I don’t fuck with your principles, so now I’m not gonna give you no information that can help you help all of us.” [He returns the signed Yeezy.]

I’m not saying this to diss celebrities at all, particularly on the democratic side—that’s cool. I just hate the fact that because I’m a celebrity, everybody told me not to say that I loved the debates. I loved [Trump’s] approach. It be like, white people that’s racist, running around saying ***** now. If people are racist and they feel more inspired to say how they feel, then they’re exposing themselves, bro. This is what I’m saying. It’s already the beginning of change. Sometimes things that you might think are bad need to happen, in order for change to fucking happen. Sometimes you might have to not get your way to really understand what to do in the future, to be able to get your way.

Speaking about education, Kanye talked about “creating new schools that approach the way we should receive our education post-the internet.”

    He continued:

Not based on a 1930s idea of how to put everyone in the same factory. Schools were designed to put people in certain forms of jobs. The internet has opened up all other forms of jobs. Education is far behind where it needs to be for us as human beings to be informed enough to not be disappointed in the way that so many people were. We have to ask questions. None of us are experts at everything. When they go up and question the candidates, and it’s all about what the fuck they remember, it’s not about what you remember. It’s about, do you have the ability to work with the best of class? People be joking about Donald—“He ain’t even know that he had to get this, he had to get that.” But does he have the ability to work with the best of class? Well, it’d be a prejudice because of something he would’ve said earlier, right, when he was running to win. But if he takes the model, the same model I’m gonna take in 2020, if he takes the model to work with the best in class, and to work from a place of empathy, for people, for the family of people, not just America, the world. We are one world, bro. We are one race, bro.

There’s a lot of people who said things that offended people. Benjamin Carson is a fucking genius. He might’ve said things that offended people. Maybe Bernie Sanders ain’t have the right look for something. Or maybe people was tired by the status quo of politics. They just wanted to see could possibly something fucking change. This fucking 1930s education system, this fucking class system, this ecosystem. Maybe there was people out there who wanted to see that something could possibly fucking change in this political ass society that’s not doing nothing to help each other out, but only to keep themselves in fucking power. People tell me I can’t talk to y’all in this way. ... There’s a power to the Saint Pablo Tour. All y’all know it’s the coldest tour and all the type of shit, right? So, the funny thing about the guy throwing up the VIEWS hat is, the reason why I might not have thrown on the VIEWShat is to show the power of this tour. “Nah, I’m the man, I’m Ye, this is my tour, right?” But then when motherfucking “Pop Style” come on, everybody go crazy. It’s from this album! Motherfuckers is always trying to do power plays. That’s what politics are.

But fuck all the power plays and all that type of shit. It’s the collective idea of Hillary or, if we like Bill Clinton and things that he did for the country, we like things about Obama, things that he did, that our current president has to take the best of all candidates’ principles, and combine them right now. If that doesn’t happen, I’mma run, and I’mma say this. And it’s gonna be more clear. If that does happen, there might not be a reason to. Y’all might not totally understand the approach to why I’m saying what I’m saying. ... You know, they try to embarrass me and diminish me and say, they call me a rapper that’s ranting. I don’t have all of the answers, but I know that if I work with the best of class, with the idea of empathy for the human race, that idea of a power struggle between who’s Republican, who’s Democrat, who said this, who said that, [will be replaced by] more of what is the principles that can collectively come together? We can start with America. And bring together the best of all skill sets. Education, housing. There’s so many elements that I’ve been out here learning, when I make my rich-guy house and shit. I be learning about elements that everyone should have. Color palettes, proportions. [He asks a fan to stop clapping, because “you can’t hear what I’m saying as well.”]

One thing that I do have the ability to do is talk as long the fuck as I want, right here. Some people might have a less enjoyable pop experience than others. But if you clap when I’m in the middle of an idea, it’s just distracting. ... This is my platform. I did have a lot to say. I did have a lot of things that I felt about the paradigm shift that we are under right now. And I was told to not say certain ideas I had, because, oh, your fans won’t understand. The reason why you’re echoed to on the internet is because people believe that you won’t understand. I wanna ask a question again. Strictly this question. Not what you believe is right or wrong on who won. Strictly this question, answer me this: Do you believe that there are people here, enjoying—before I started talking at least—a Kanye West show that voted for Trump? By a show of screams, do you believe that there are people at a Kanye West show that voted for Trump. It sounds different than before. Why did we boo the first time on something that wasn’t, hey, do you like Trump? That wasn’t what I asked. I asked you to give me your facts, because the internet was giving you their facts based on what you wanted to hear. And a lot of you guys got blindsided.

none of this makes any sense lol. it seems clear that he isn't even referencing actual policy? just rhetorical style. and then some weird thoughts about racism and how bad things have to happen in order to lead to good things.

That alt-right joke is kinda funny but Kanye is, like, alt-up or something - this is out-on-his-own, head-in-the-clouds shit and that transcript is fucking nuts. There's no telling what he could actually do if his head and his heart existed in the same fucking realm, but expecting him to actually educate himself properly on some of the topics he touches on is wishful thinking.
