local radio did a cool mega Kanye/Jay Z mix leading up to father stretch my hands and it was really cool. but also it annoys me how they only do part 1 of father stretch my hands because second part is also really good.
I went to the malls and I balled too hard 'Oh my god, is that a Black Card?' I turned around and replied, why yes but I prefer the term African American Express
The floor was great. People were putting their arms around each other, jumping around, singing every word. The camaraderie was definitely present. Also, felt like the floating/moving stage was an awesome idea and truly made for the best experience for everyone in the house. Normally, if you want to be close up, you have to get there early and/or fight for a good spot, but with this everyone on the floor basically had a front row seat for at least a portion of the show if they wanted to.
thats really great to hear. im seeing him at psu next friday and was worried the floor might be ~too lit~ for my old ass
I worried about that too, and it was for sure lit, but if you want to take it easy, you can just post up on the side or one of the corners or something.
I was sad that the only thing he sort of ranted about was that Famous was the most important song he's ever recorded.
however many months later i have come to the ultimate conclusion that this record is on the level of his other output and ppl who put it distinctly below or categorically pronounce it his worst r dumb
like i dont even mean its not reasonable to have it be your least favorite i just mean i extremely disagree with the idea that it is a regression or indicative of a decline in ability or ambition or whatever other justification for placing it on a whole other, lower level then the rest
I mean I think it's one of his most ambitious records, just what he was going for doesn't work for me on a personal level.
It's a decline in lyrical ambitions, or ambitions as an MC maybe, but in literally no other way could it be described that way.
There are some songs that are as good as any previous Ye songs on here, for sure. But I basically never feel like listening to Wolves, Freestyle 4, or Fade at least. And there are a few others that I think are pretty good. I don't know. I've listened to this record a lot and I feel like I'm still not sure exactly what I think about it.
I think its among his most banger-dense albums tbh. Exceptions for me would be lowlights for obvious reasons, wolves, maybe FML depending on who you ask. But the rest are all really top quality songs including underrated (imo) ones like highlights and freestyle 4
it doesn't flow as an album like his best but nothing is super jarring or anything in that regard. it doesn't flow great but it doesn't flow horribly either for me
Highlights is definitely one of the best on the record and honestly I think Lowlights is pretty essential to play before, even if it is pretty long.
agreed on all counts i just listed lowlights because its not a 'banger' and is probably popularly disliked/ignored despite its importance
Played Black Skinhead for my dad and he texted me later and asked what song it was so he could download it.
TLOP is probably my 3rd favourite Kanye album now. I personally think it's great from start to finish, there aren't any lowlights (sorry) for me
