Here's a Vanity Fair interview with him on the video: Exclusive: Kanye West on His “Famous” Video, Which Might Be His Most Thought-Provoking Work Yet
Yeah I was hoping he'd do a video for any song but this one first. I love the album and I really really like the end of that song but idk
Yeah I really don't like this video. Borderline harassment. I'm guilty of defending Kanye in the past (admittedly when I shouldn't sometimes) but this just really crosses a line. And not in the typical Kanye way.
The no-video part of this stream is so hilarious, Kanye is literally DJ'ing his own songs. Some So Appaled, Streetlights, etc... just bobbing and rapping along
I really wish that Kanye would just stop doing stuff that is not music. It's hard to be a Kanye fan and not be embarrassed about the stuff he does outside of his albums (and that demeanour is starting to seep into his music too, and the "made that bitch famous"-line is the perfect example of that.)
I hope someone in the bed raises a stink about it. If I were any one of those people, I would feel very violated.
I actually like the video and its commentary on celebrity culture quite a bit. (Unless I'm misinterpreting it, which is very possible, haha.) Personally qould have preferred a more "complex" or traditional video than this (thinking of Marilyn Manson and how he used various cryptic images in his old videos spliced together)I'm more shocked that Kanye's such a big Matthew Barney fan than anything.
