Just relistened to life of pabs for the first time in awhile. I love this album. Super messy, super fun, but still feels like a cohesive project to me. Nothing feels particularly out of place
I was into coloring book for a while but it dropped off regular rotation pretty quickly for me...except for juke jam. That song is so fucking good.
I was having a very bad week, and I was driving on the freeway on my way to pick up my girlfriend (who had been gone during that week, so I had extra time to stare into the abyss) from the train station and I listened to Coloring Book for the first time, all the way through. It really hit me. By the time I arrived, I went from crying sad tears to happy tears. So yeah, Coloring Book is the best album of 2016. That or Still Brazy. Don't @ me ;D
Personally love the off kilter rhythm of All We Got. But Coloring Book has aged poorly for me over the last year as well. I just don't really return to it. I think some of it is I find Chance's far more corny than I used. Almost a parody of himself. I appreciate all the great things he does in and around Chicago though.
The way he performed it at on his live stream last that I watched last week was super fun, I'll definitely give you that
My fav thing about Chance backlash is white people who were never into Gospel music caling Gospel music corny
and (at least around these parts) these same people probably have listened to Relient K, Anberlin, or MANY other white artists who have religious songs that don't bother them
I more meant Twitter trendhoppers. V weird to see dorks who got into hip hop 2 years ago shit on historically black music
gotta step in and say that I truly don't think that post was directed at you, wouldn't really make sense to and I didn't read it as such
Yes! It's not just them though, I've seen somewhat good critics do it too, which is even weirder. "Corny" is being misused and overused anyway in the rap discourse these days.
you literally never even referred to the gospel aspect of the album.... which is what @OhTheWater posted about... how are you confused?
Did you speak about Gospel? Did I know if you were white? You answered that question when you attempted to call me out
