Haha I mean you kinda overreacted from jump. Coming in here and shaming people for hoping that Ye gets help and then being shocked when that wasn't met with universal acceptance was a weird start to things.
I don't know how you can't grasp the fact that people can have more nuanced feelings about Kanye than him simply being an asshole billionaire right wing Trump supporter. Did you have any sort of connection to him/his music prior to Pablo? Prior to MBDTF? That's to say nothing of the (at this point is it speculated anymore or has it been confirmed) mental health issues at play.
The music means a lot to people and regardless of the person he is now, it doesn’t change the fact that he made a huge impact. I’d be really upset to wake up to him gone tbh
The music has been tarnished forever by his behavior the last ~5 years. Was a fan of the dude since eighth grade (2004), had no problem doing it.
you don't have to have sympathy but I believe empathy is important. you can think two things at once. Do I dislike the hateful rhetoric and garbage Kanye has been spewing over the past few years and wearing the red cap? Of course. Do I like that he is having a very public mental breakdown? No. Do I want him to get help? Of course. If you wish ill or harm on your enemies then you are no better than your enemy.
This is totally good and fair, but I can't know what his music meant to other people or got them through and I'm not personally comfortable blaming anyone for struggling with his baggage, let alone not wanting him to harm himself. Not saying you've done that here, just using your post as a jumping off point.
I'm not trying to cast aspersions on anyone else for what they listen to in private, that's on everyone individually to decide where their line is. I was just chiming in on the subject of how long people had been fans of Kanye's and when they first started listening to him Also, I believe I made my thoughts on the situation clear yesterday: I don't see how this is that difficult of a proposition to grasp but I guess the past couple pages proves that it can be for some.
not having basic empathy for fellow humans is why this world is so fucked up. I hate Donald Trump and his ilk. I hope he loses in embarrassing fashion in November and has to be taken away to prison. I don't sit at home hoping he dies. I don't sit at home wishing anyone to die. That's fucked up.
Kanye is one of the artists who got me into the genre. MBDTF was one of my favorite albums. I understand it’s harder for other people, but “hero worship” isn’t good. It was hard for me to let go of my Bowie obsession after the allegations of him came out.
Guess this comment confirms that I triggered this response For the record it’s possible to sympathize with multiple people at once! Personally I’m very happy to wake up today to the news that he’s still alive. Maybe even the fact that he hasn’t tweeted means that people are helping him right now!
