A fun game on listnd is to look at who gave KSG a 10/10 and then see how closely their ratings match the bald dork's
I really loved ye. It ended up in my top 15 that year I believe. And consider it to be a continuation of a careers worth of great records. Jesus is King was completely unlistenable.
Ye was meh. Had some good songs and some pretty bad ones. JIK was horrendous. Wash Us In The Blood is really good for recent Kanye, just ok for Kanye when he was consistently good
honestly still really bugged by the "I put my hand on a stove to see if I still bleed" lol And I really don't care for like, any of the production on ye. Which might be because I previously had Kanye on an all time high list of producers, he's really the one that made me really take notice of production on albums. So falling from that height just exacerbated ye's weaknesses for me.
i only really go back to that and God Is (for some reason, i can even acknowledge it's not that good)
I love this!! Actually sounds like he cares about his rapping, and since these lyrics were presumably written for this and not Jesus-fied Yandhi songs the religious stuff sounds a lot less shoehorned in. Production is fire too I actually really liked Ye and LOVED KSG, and thought JIK got a bit too much hate but is still easily his weakest. Production was still nice on it but it felt like a youth pastor rapping. This single gave me high hopes for the next one though, I hope it's all Yeezus-esque production like this
don't keep up with what this douche says but I saw this quoted into my timeline and I fucking retched eat the rich imo
I’m sure it is, but I don’t like it. It sounds too abrasive for me (for what I’m looking for from Kanye at least) and it also didn’t grab me lyrically. The again I haven’t *really* cared for Kanye’s lyrics since Late Registration.
I just liked the soulful conscious rapper and producer that somehow made it big more than the ultra artistic superstar
The 070 Shake part of Ghost Town is cool but the issue I have with that song is that nothing else about that song coalesces around that melody. It’s a boring slog of a song until it gets to that part, which sucks because Kanye used to be extremely talented at taking a few cool elements and turning them into something greater than the sum of its parts. The whole thing (and all of Ye) is produced so poorly that it sounds like a demo more than anything. I think this new song is fine. I don’t immediately feel any desire to listen to it again. Can’t imagine I’ll ever like a Kanye album like I loved Yeezus again, so the promise of “it sounds like Yeezus” is a bit hollow to me.
you mean you didn't care for lyrics like: "Get this bitch shaking like parkinsons" "Eating Asian pussy, all I need is sweet and sour sauce" but theyre so credible moose
