Watching on the livestream. Bummed I couldn't get a ticket as I live ~20 minutes away from the venue.
The gospel sounds amaaaaaazing Just gonna pretend they’re singing about someone I believe in like Paul Rudd or something
For me, gospel is cool for about 5 minutes and then I lose patience with it. That’s kind of how I feel with the whole Sunday Service stuff. It’s heavy on gospel, extremely light on Kanye. I’d prefer a more Kanye heavy set that accentuates gospel influences and throws in covers and traditional stuff as well, but maybe a little less frequently. That’s what I’m hoping for in the new record as well.
Yup totally with you on all fronts. The only time Kanye was on the mic was for Jesus Walks, so it didn't really feel like I was at a Kanye thing. If I was up close and could see him vibing on the MPC it might have changed things. But I found myself on my phone for probably 75% of the time.
Kanye definitely is gonna use that “Sweet Jesus” sample on the record. Maybe the 3/4th song from Sunday Service. Last track on JIK. Edit: on setlist.fm its listed as Unknown. Lyrics are “trust his word, all his love is waiting for you, sweet Jesus, surrender”
I mean it probably goes without saying, but I feel like this record is probably not done. Keep seeing shots of Kanye in Wyoming and then Chicago and then Calabasas and then Atlanta and on and on. I cannot imagine traveling that much all of the time. Insanity.
This thread is going to be a shitshow once this album is out lol the Chance thread will be nothing compared to it. Remind me to unsubscribe
i can't see the reception being the same as Chance. I really can't see this album being bad and well the Chance album is.
