There isn’t a track between the 2 that I don’t like. I would still say ye is his weakest record by some margin but that’s due more to its brevity (I get some would argue that’s a positive lol), but that’s not really a knock from me just an observation. That gospel snippet sounded nice in the insta clip fwiw.
Title track from KSG is nice but I don’t revisit much else from it. Ghost Town is definitely the keeper from Ye.
It definitely feels more like a Cudi album than a Kanye album (Reborn is literally right off MOTM and I love it) but it also has some of Kanye's best rapping in years
I legitimately am a bit baffled at the enthusiasm for this, even taking his legacy into consideration. It's almost like an I'm Still Here style prank where he's trying to see how far he can go with his apologists at this point. Imagine any other artist throwing on a MAGA hat, talking all the shit he does about slavery and racism and then putting out an overtly religious album called "Jesus is King". My man Chance got absolutely demolished for putting out an album about his wife by the same people who are hype as shit for this! Kanye got more hate for what he did on 808s when it first dropped than this! It's crazy
I haven’t had expectations for a Kanye albums in a long time. I’ll get to it at some point. If it’s great, then that’s cool, if not then that’s fine too.
It's certainly not in the same category. But the same people getting on Chance for being "corny" for talking about his wife no doubt consider a record called "Jesus is King" corny
Aside from being corny, the Chance record just isn't good. Not expecting much from Jesus is King either, but we'll see...
Eh, to each his own. Coloring Book was fine but I haven't really liked much of what Chance has put out since Acid Rap. The newest record is easily his worst yet, imo.
